Late String Quartets

Late String Quartets

Rec.: June 1976 LaSalle Quartet

Recorded at the Beethoven-Saal in Hannover between 1972 and 1977

Known predominantly for their commitment to the great 20th Century composers, the LaSalle String Quartet looked to Beethoven's late String Quartets with a particular focus on drawing out the modernity within the works, which is as present now as it has ever been. Walter Levin, the founder of the LaSalle quartet, stated that they focused on creating different colours in their tone to make the complex textures of these pieces clearer, brighter and more transparent.
