Beethoven was a known nature admirer. He famously wrote: “I love a tree more than a man”. Symphony No. 6 was dubbed the ‘Pastoral Symphony’ where he draws particularly on this adoration for nature. At the top of the first movement, he writes ‘Awakening of Cheerful Feelings upon entering the Country”. Böhms precise attention to these naturalistic details is what separates this performance from any other.
